What is CC Cream?

Hello

CC cream, a.k.a Colour Correcting cream or Colour Control cream, has been the rage lately. Both drugstore and high end have their own take on CC creams. Like BB creams,a.k.a Blemish Balm or Beauty Balm, both Asian and Western CC creams have their own claims, which actually means the same things. So what is cc cream exactly? This is what i have gathered based on my own knowledge and research.

CC creams are developed to retain all the benefits of bb creams with added nourishing ingredients, which means that cc creams are better in terms of skincare properties. However, the coverage provided by cc creams are much sheerer as compared to bb creams though there are claims of cc creams providing more coverage than bb creams (having tried 2 cc creams so far,i feel bb still provides more coverage). CC creams are also more lightweight in texture for easier blendability.

While bb creams falls between a tinted moisturiser and foundation, cc creams fall in between skincare and makeup. While looking at cc creams online and also in person, i noticed that cc creams can be used alone or under bb creams and foundations for extra coverage. While most bb creams have more than 1 colour range to suit different skintones, cc creams has only one colour which will adapt to your natural skin colour upon application. It contains tiny colour capsules within the white cream and giving you a better finish/result if applied with fingers.

So, my final conclusion , i feel cc creams are better use as a makeup base/primer/corrector under bb creams or foundations. Having said that, if you have nothing to cover (blemish, acne scarring) and just need to even/correct/brighten your skin tone, you would be better off wearing cc creams as it is lightweight and more natural looking.

I hope that this post have been useful or informative to you in anyway. Do note that this is just my honest opinions and also based on my experience in having tried 2 different brands of cc creams so far. I may be right or wrong with all this informations.

Also do look out for my review on cc creams next week as im still in the midst of trying them out.

Thanks for reading!
